We primarily practice the styles of Kickboxing, Sambo, and Jiu-jitsu.
Kickboxing comes many different styles and the exact lineage is debated. The style we practice uses punches that come from boxing, Jeet Kune Do, and karate. The kicks come from Thai Boxing. We do not use kicks that land higher than the hip. We primarily use the front kick to gain space between yourself and your opponent. Distance can be closed at which time we use elbows and knees in the clinch.
Jiu-jitsu come from Brazil, Japan, China, India, and originally Greece. It has been refined into an effective ground fighting system. While purist consider it to be the best all-around-fighting system in the world. We don't necessarily buy into that. Diesel MMA simply uses it to control the fight when it goes to the ground.
Sambo is a Russian fighting system that was developed by the Russians when they figured out that there current system wasn't cutting it. It was primarily developed from Judo. Sambo is commonly called Jacker wrestling. In Sambo you wear a "Kurtka" which is a Russian style Gi top. They are either red or blue, with matching shorts. Combat Sambo is a version where literally everything goes. Freestyle Sambo is a version with similar rules to MMA. Sport Sambo is a combination of wrestling and Judo.
In Diesel MMA we have effectively combined all these system into a larger, more involved, fluid system of martial arts. This system is effective in any walk of life.
The current members of Diesel MMA have all been in fights on the street, in the ring, in prison, and in the soul.
This brings us to the last and most important part, we believe in upholding strong Christian morals and values. You do not have to believe in Jesus as we do, but we stand by our beliefs, and if you want to train with us, you better get ready to hear about them.
